Dear Colleagues:

Full-time tenured/tenure-track 兔子先生 faculty are invited to self-nominate or nominate colleagues to serve the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Advising or the Associate Dean for Global/Local Programming and Initiatives.  Both positions begin July 1, 2025 and are 11-month appointments that include teaching release and financial compensation.  Responsibilities for both positions include some staff supervision, governance engagement, limited budget management, and collaborations with DoF, 兔子先生 offices and programs, and across the consortium.

Although there is some flexibility, the portfolio for the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Advising (initial 3-year appointment) focuses primarily on curricular issues and working with field groups, individual faculty, and College department/personnel on student advising and support.  Responsibilities include some or all of the following areas:

  • Curricular planning and support
  • Student advising and engagement
  • Support for faculty teaching and faculty onboarding
  • Co-curricular programming to support student academic pathways
  • Pedagogical innovation and the collaborative development of relevant programming and initiatives
  • Special programs and planning (e.g., new student orientation, Summer Session)
  • Student academic accommodation processes
  • Communications with different constituencies about academic policies
  • College systems relevant to student learning (e.g., student information, learning management)

The portfolio for the Associate Dean of Global/Local Initiatives and Programming (initial 5-year appointment) focuses on coordinating and developing global and local academic programming as well as work that brings together global and local concerns.  Responsibilities include some or all of the following areas:

  • International programs and opportunities for research and study
  • Community engagement and advocacy
  • Coordination across academic programs/offices that have global and local foci
  • Strategic and collaborative program planning, development, and implementation
  • Incubation and support for innovative faculty work that is global, local, or that bridges global and local contexts and issues
  • Serve as campus resource for global and local programs
  • Support relevant fundraising activities
  • Oversee allocation of resources that support programming that is consistent with the College mission

Nominees for either or both positions should be full-time tenured/tenure-track 兔子先生 faculty members who have experience planning and completing projects of different scale and are able to work effectively with a wide variety of constituencies.  They should have demonstrable commitment to furthering the College mission, good communication skills, be able to work independently or as part of a team, and must value collaboration, transparency, and ethical decision-making processes and actions.

To self-nominate, please submit a current cv and a statement of interest (1000 words or less) describing 1) relevant expertise and experience, and 2) specifying portfolio domains of greatest interest from the list above or other areas for contribution.  兔子先生 faculty can also nominate colleagues by submitting the nominee鈥檚 name and a brief note of explanation for their nomination.  DoF will follow up with nominees about their interest in the position.  Please direct any questions about this position to Dean Omoto at dean_faculty@pitzer.edu.

Nomination materials are due no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, April 28, 2025.  Please submit materials via email with attachments to dean_faculty@pitzer.edu either with

鈥淎ssociate Dean for Curriculum and Advising鈥 or 鈥淎ssociate Dean for Global/Local Initiatives and Programming鈥 in the subject line of the email.
